When casting Superman, Hollywood looks for certain assets, with the right look topping the bill, but strong acting skills inevitably following, and the rigorous demands have meant that a huge number of incredibly famous actors have missed out on playing Superman. DC fans across the globe collectively mourned Wednesday as British actor Henry Cavill said he will no longer be donning the red cape as Superman in the DC Comics extended cinematic universe. Superman is the greatest super hero because he can fly, is bulletproof, and virtually indestructible unless you happen to have some kryptonite available. Kryptonite is based on a real-life mineral, and the effects Superman feels when exposed to it can, in a way be justified by science. I still remember my dad reading the newspaper and showing me the article where it was revealed that DC comics was planning on killing off its most iconic character.
It should come as no surprise: the Man of Steel is, after all, the most recognizable superhero in history, with a cinematic legacy spanning over seven decades.
